Animating in TVPaint using an Intuos Pro with Aaron Blaise

Just like with traditional animation, animating digitally requires the right tools. For longtime animator and feature film director Aaron Blaise, his kit of choice includes Wacom tech and TVPaint animation software.

In this tutorial video, Aaron shows how to use an Intuos Pro to navigate some of TVPaint's most basic tools in an animation process called inbetweening or "tweening," which is the process of drawing extra frames between two key frames to smooth out the magic of movement. You'll become acquainted with TVPaint's animation timeline, lightbox tool and other key features that replicate traditional 2D animation concepts and push them forward to the digital age.
