Here is a sunset that originally was 2 different photos by using photo merge in Photoshop CS2, I combined with photo merge creating the panorama. The secret is to line your images up while you take them so that the end of one image will show in the 2nd image and overlap a bit, and so on to the next image. This is called panning hence panorama, Its best to use a tripod so you keep the same perspective and level. Some cameras have a setting which enables you to set the photos up for that purpose.
1. Open the photos which you want to merge in photoshop
2. Go file automate, photomerge, the next screen will show the photos you have chosen to merge, if at this point you wanted to add another photo you can do so by browsing and add then click ok.
3. Next screen merges the photos, however you have the availability to move them around if you feel that the program did not do so to your liking. Once lined up click ok.
4. Next you will be back at the main screen there will probably be a bit of cropping to be done after the merge to cut off the overlap of the multiple merged images.
5. Next click file save as, whatever kind of file you prefer best is tiff where there is no compression. You can always make a copy as jpg.
Have fun
