Lídia Vives: An incredible journey into her photographic world

Biography: Lídia Vives (Spain, 1991), currently living in Barcelona, is a photographer and visual artist who has seen her work published in magazines such as Esquire and Vogue Italia and has been exhibited in numerous galleries, fairs and museums such as the Louvre from Paris. She also collaborated with various musical groups, highlighting the Spanish band Love of Lesbian.

She has traveled around the world presenting her work since her first exhibition in 2013 and has received various international awards.
Very influenced by Italian Renaissance and Baroque artists, as well as some of her contemporaries, Lídia’s work is characterized by the pictorial environment that she uses when dealing with current issues, making use of her self-portrait on many occasions. She is also known for hiding easter eggs in her photographs, prompting the viewer to look further into her work.

Studies: I studied Fine Arts at the Complutense University of Madrid and specialized in image. I finished my degree at the University of Barcelona.

Inspirations: I find inspiration anywhere. Sometimes they are words, objects, songs, colors … but as for artists, I am very inspired by Italian Renaissance and Baroque painters. As photographers, I greatly admire Annie Leibovitz, Guy Bourdin, Tim Walker, and Miles Aldridge, among others.

Projects: Currently I have acquired a new studio where I will have enough space to be able to work on more ambitious projects. I want to expand my fashion portfolio, make new artistic photographs with a more elaborate scenography and take new works with mixed media.

Why Wacom: Clearly the best graphics tablet brand on the market. I worked with the mouse for many years, and as I switched to the tablet, I noticed a big change in my technique. Now it is neater and more detailed. The tablet allows me to achieve clean results and that suits my perfectionist personality. In addition, among my new projects, there is that of drawing on top of the photographs and that with the Cintiq is very easy.

What does the future hold for you: I hope to continue living from my art and also start working in fashion all over the world. It would be wonderful to be able to combine both passions!
