7 Blender tricks with Dev. Pablo Dobarro

October 22, 2020

For those who don’t know Blender, it is an amazing software that allows you to design anything in 3D. It is in constant development and there are a lot of code writers, developers and designers working on it to offer the best features to you! But the best part is that it’s completely FREE!

In this article we will share some of the best tips and tricks from one of the masterminds at work: Pablo Dobarro.

He lives in Spain and works constantly in the core functions of Blender. On top of that he is an incredible 3D modeler and a very talented creator.

Check it out:

1.- The Smooth Brush can now smooth the surface while preserving the shape of the loops that define details like creases or hard surface edges. Learn more here: developer.blender.org/D9292

2.- You can now lock the HDRI rotation in Material Preview to the view. With this feature you can use any EEVEE material for sculpting.

3.- Sculpt Mode now has line gestures to create flat surfaces and masks. Line gestures for bisecting, face sets, colors and gradients are also planned. Learn more here: https://developer.blender.org/D9021

4.- Sculpt Mode now works much better when working with multiple objects. Now you can switch objects directly without leaving Sculpt Mode, there is an overlay that fades inactive objects and symmetry options change automatically after switching

5.- Sculpt Mode now has experimental pen tilt support in some draw, clay and scrape brushes to control the brush tip angle in relation to the surface. Learn more here: https://developer.blender.org/D8893

6.- You can now use the Sculpt Face Sets and Mask overlays with any modifier enabled. This removes the “Sculpt: Hide, Mask and optimized display disabled” limitation.

7.- The Pose and Boundary brushes now support deforming the mesh using cloth simulations. This allows creating bend and compression folds without using collisions.
