Wacom Community Guidelines

June 5, 2020

First off, a message from Wacom Americas during this crucial time:

At Wacom, we talk a lot about community.  Our community is defined in many ways – the world of creative users who know Wacom technology and understand our commitment to creative pursuits; the art, poetry, design, illustration, photography and innovation that is enabled and enhanced by our products; the neighborhoods, cities, states and regions in which we live; our families, co-workers, friends and loved ones.  Each of those communities is strengthened by engaging with a diversity of ideas, customs, language, experience, and backgrounds.  We must remain steadfast in our commitment to listening to, honoring and learning from the stories of marginalized voices, supporting and celebrating the diversity of our communities, and growing together our understanding of how we can make a difference.

Our online communities

Wacom’s social media communities are learning and inspiration platforms for creatives of all levels around the world. As advocates for a creative world, we showcase unique styles and a broad range of perspectives, but we also work hard to ensure we create a professional and inclusive environment for everyone. To help us preserve the high quality of our community, we ask that everyone participating in it, including moderators, employees, and influencers to follow these guidelines and report any violation.

1. Play nice

We want our content to spark positive and respectful interactions in our communities. We know our global community is made up of people of all ages, tastes, styles, and nationalities and we believe each one of them has the right to feel heard, respected, and empowered by Wacom. For this reason, we focus on creating and sharing professional, inspiring, and educational content intended to uplift and provide value to our followers’ daily lives.

2. Provide value

Wacom provides value to users in the creative industries in many ways and we want to do the same in our social media communities. Providing value means we are providing:

  • useful information about our products
  • timely and clear assistance and tech support
  • the best tips and best practices to empower Wacom users
  • access to promos and exclusive deals
  • visibility into our events and partnerships

3. Respect and protect original work

We work hard to ensure and protect the authenticity of the creative work we share in our communities. Every time we share user-generated content, we get written permission from the artist and always credit them and link to their website or social profiles in posts.

4. Respect the intellectual copyright of others

Wacom respects copyrights, trademarks, right of publicity, and other third-party rights. We never present other people’s work as our own or overstate Wacom’s role in creating something. But most of all, we don’t create confusion about who originally authored the work we share.

5. Curate mindfully

As moderators of Wacom communities, we have the freedom and responsibility to set the tone of our communities. We go out of our way to ensure the content we share is high in quality, relevant to our company goals, and valuable to our different target audiences. We don’t share content that objectifies the human body, contains vulgar language, graphic violence, or content that promotes illegal activity, hatred, or self-harm. Although we respect free expression, we protect our communities by never using or promoting language or media that demean an individual or groups based on race, ethnic origin, religion, disability, gender, age, or sexual orientation.

Content is considered appropriate when it empowers, educates, or inspires our users. We don’t share creative works with graphic nudity, expletives, violence, or any material unsuitable for a younger, global audience, or people at work. Content is considered off-limits and immediately reported if it depicts minors in a sexual manner or is otherwise legally obscene or illegal. We report any material exploiting minors to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) Cyber Tip Line. We also don’t allow content that clearly is intended to promote hatred.

6. Address negativity

We have the ability to monitor the conversations and mentions Wacom gets in real-time on social media and do our best to resolve or escalate issues our followers report. We understand that when a follower sends Wacom a complaint or a criticism via social media, it is often because they feel unheard. As a team, we do our best to acknowledge concerns, hear feedback, and find solutions. When abusive language and profanity become part of any conversation in our channels, as moderators of our community we reserve the right to restrict, mute, and or block individual followers or threads. Please note that there is absolutely no racism or racist language allowed in our communities and we will immediately block members using our platforms to spew racial hate on anyone, under any circumstances.

While we don’t censor comments, we use our best judgment to moderate conversations in order to protect the rest of our followers from bullying and inappropriate language. If you have any questions about these guidelines or would like to contact the Wacom America’s Community team, please contact social@wacom.com.

Sincerely yours,

Wacom Americas Community Team

When our inner critic arises, it’s difficult not hear it 😭

Sometimes our internal voice criticizes, judges and makes us doubt of our work telling us that we are not good enough. It happens to all of us!

But it’s all in our heads, trust the progress you’ve made so far and don’t give up!

Have you ever felt this way? 👇
