The Penn Animation as Research Lab<\/a>, co-directed by Simon Richter<\/a> and Joshua Mosley<\/a>, is an innovative project at the University of Pennsylv<\/a>a<\/a>nia<\/a> that combines science and art to communicate emerging research related to climate and the environment in a uniquely engaging way. UPenn students have a unique opportunity to bring together interests too often kept separate in university environments, in order to both engage in meaningful scientific inquiry as well as create projects that can communicate that research to the masses. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of the Lab, the Penn Climate Animation and Research Studio<\/a> brings six students together into a mobile animation studio to both conduct research and work on an animation project on location. As part of the project, students traveled to the Netherlands to learn more, meet experts, and \u201ccritically reflect on emerging adaptation strategies with the intent of producing works of art that inform and influence policymakers and communities.\u201d To learn more about the PAR Lab and Wacom, check out the previous blog post we published about them here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wacom was proud to have Joshua Mosley and two of the student Animator Researchers as part of our 2023 Connected Ink<\/strong> event. A recording of that event is below, as well as an embed of the animation they shared during the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
