So we sent her one of the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/community.wacom.com\/en-us\/wacom-one-pen-display-and-tablet\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">brand-new Wacom Ones<\/a>&nbsp;\u2014 the medium pen tablet version \u2014 to get her thoughts, impressions, and ideas.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>In&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/community.wacom.com\/en-us\/how-to-draw-tattoo-ice-cream-illustrator\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the last post and video<\/a>, she showed viewers her process for illustrating a tattoo-style ice cream cone. In today\u2019s video, I show viewers how to digitally design unique Valentine\u2019s day cards in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.adobe.com\/products\/illustrator.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Adobe Illustrator<\/a> using my <a href=\"https:\/\/community.wacom.com\/en-us\/wacom-one-pen-display-and-tablet\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Wacom One tablet<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The first step: Choose your paper size<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The first thing to do is to decide on your paper size. In the U.S., 5\"x7\" is the standard greeting card size, but really depends on your preference. If you're printing at home, 5.5\" x 8.5\" might be easiest, as the card will fold easily from a standard Letter size sheet of paper. Make sure you have the right size envelopes, too, if you'll be using them. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you're going to either have a Print On Demand site print your card, or will go to a copy shop like FedEx Kinko's, they might be able to print your design on different sizes, and offer envelopes as well. One will be for the cover, and one for the inside page. I used the <strong>Pencil Tool <\/strong>to draw some hearts, and then made simple line drawings of the things I love to do with my card recipient, and wrote a heartfelt message on the inside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"930\" height=\"658\" src=\"https:\/\/community.wacom.com\/en-us\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/40\/2024\/02\/Valentines-Card-Noelle-3.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-815457\" title=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/community.wacom.com\/en-us\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/40\/2024\/02\/Valentines-Card-Noelle-3.jpg 930w, https:\/\/community.wacom.com\/en-us\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/40\/2024\/02\/Valentines-Card-Noelle-3-480x340.jpg 480w\" sizes=\"(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) 930px, 100vw\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Design 2: Speech bubble typography<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For this design, the idea is to sketch out a speech bubble and fill it with words\/positive adjectives to describe the person you\u2019re giving it to. I used the <strong>Pencil Tool<\/strong> again to draw the speech bubble, then used the <strong>Text Tool<\/strong> to write a bunch of different descriptors of the person in different fonts and to write a message on the inside page. Instead of the typical PB&amp;J, try illustrating a pairing that is unique to you and your person! Choose a non-traditional pairing that is special to the both of you. On this one, I used the paintbrush tool to get a more artistic effect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Conclusion<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hopefully these three simple card ideas inspired you. They're perfect to send digitally, or to print out and send via snail mail. Make sure you've got the documents set up correctly according to the printer you're using -- if it's at home, you can practice a few times to make sure you're printing double-sided, they're showing up in the right places and folding correctly, etc. If you're sending them to a printer, make sure to follow their instructions, and look at a proof, to make sure it all works out right.
