Welcome to How To Create Incredible Textures Using Adobe Substance 3D, an 8-part series of videos full of tips and tricks for how to use ZBrush, Blender, and Adobe Substance 3D software to take your 3D renders to the next level. The series is hosted by Pablo Muñoz Gómez of ZBrushGuides.com and 3dConceptArtist.com, an expert character designer and 3D workflow educator.
- Part 1: Intro and Project Overview
- Part 2: Creating custom ID maps
- Part 3: Additional panels with height information and the path tool
- Part 4: Working with translucent materials
- Part 5: A simple setup for custom materials
- Part 6: Achieving complexity with simple layers
- Part 7: Stylized textures in Substance 3D Painter
- Part 8: Exploring textures and rendering in Blender
Part 1: Project Introduction and Overview
In this video, Muñoz goes over the hardware and software set up he’ll be using for this project. He also gives an overview of the project he’ll be using as the basis for the series, starting with the concept art: a sci-fi blaster. The video briefly touches on the ZBrush sculpt, gives a look at the final textures and render as well as a stylized version we’ll create using new tools in Substance 3D Painter, and lays out the process that will be used for the rest of the project.
Here are a few things you’ll pick up in this first video:
- The design and modeling process behind the sci-fi blaster asset
- What to expect from the upcoming videos in the series
- A look at the final renders in Blender (both realistic and stylized)
