Cómo dibujar osos polares, con el legendario animador Aaron Blaise

El legendario animador Aaron Blaise ha terminado recientemente de trabajar en su nuevo cortometraje, Snow Bear. Inspirado en la austera belleza del Ártico y en el grácil movimiento de los osos en general y de los osos polares en particular, el cortometraje de animación, que se estrenará próximamente, gira en torno a temas como el aislamiento, la familia encontrada y el poder de la creatividad.

Junto con su equipo, animó todo el cortometraje por su cuenta utilizando su Wacom Cintiq Pro 32. Desde la inspiración, a la investigación, a los guiones gráficos, a la animación en bruto, a los dibujos acabados, a los fondos, al color y la iluminación. En este vídeo, Blaise habla de su inspiración y proceso para diseñar y desarrollar el personaje principal del oso polar para su película. Todo empezó con la inspiración, y luego pasó a la investigación: leer libros, ver vídeos e incluso ir al zoo a ver un oso polar en directo. Pero, ¿cómo aborda el hecho de tomar un diseño de oso polar muy realista y convertirlo en un personaje expresivo para su nuevo cortometraje? Mira para averiguarlo.

Sobre el artista

Aaron Blaise pasó 21 años en Walt Disney Feature Animation, ayudando a crear algunas de las mejores películas de animación de la historia. Durante ese tiempo trabajó como animador o animador supervisor en "Los salvadores de Australia", "La Bella y la Bestia", "Aladdin", "El Rey León", "Pocahontas" y "Mulán". En 2003 fue codirector de "Hermano Oso", por la que obtuvo una nominación al Oscar a la Mejor Película de Animación.

Después de "Hermano Oso", ayudó a desarrollar varios proyectos, pero finalmente dejó Disney para buscar una oportunidad en Florida. Aaron participa actualmente en varios proyectos cinematográficos para diversos estudios. También ha desarrollado recientemente un cortometraje de animación llamado "Snow Bear".

Publica toneladas de contenido en vídeo y retransmisiones en directo en su canal de YouTube, y puedes seguirle en las redes sociales X (Twitter), Instagram o Facebook. También tiene innumerables tutoriales y lecciones de arte en su sitio web, Creature Art Teacher.
