Quincy Vadan is an independent jewelry designer and the artist-owner of Vadan Jewelry. In this video, he goes through his entire process, in detail, for creating a three-piece capsule collection.
Each piece starts out as a design that Quincy sketches with graphite and pen/ink on fine Japanese paper, is digitally sculpted by Quincy using Zbrush on a Wacom Cintiq Pro, is 3D printed in wax, is cast in downtown Los Angeles, and is hand finished by Quincy.
This small batch production process uses technology where it makes sense while largely retaining the traditional labor-intensive practices of making fine, collection worthy art. His technology setup, including his Wacom Cintiq Pro, makes it possible for him to remain completely independent and to take charge of the vast majority of his creative process.
