This years MCM Comic Con London was a blast.Β With thousands of die-hard fans and pop-culture consumers landing at ExCeL London last weekend, MCM Comic Con returned to bring the latest in collectibles, gaming, toys, TV and comics… and of course, the best tablets for creatives to the attendees.
The event, which is being held at the London royal docks,Β includedΒ tattoo parlours, a gaming centre by the biggest brands, an international Cosplay competition, and several talks and photo opportunitiesΒ with celebrities.
The exhibitions attracted 130,000 fans over the course of the weekend with theΒ price for General Admission day tickets starting at Β£25.Β
The Wacom booth was always crowded with the most interesting people and costumes. We had also artists such as: Tehani Farr @tehanifarr, giving a conference about her path on transitioning from analog to digital; Jessica BernadetteΒ @jessbernadetteartΒ and Emma VieceliΒ @emmavieceliΒ on a drawing battle while they talked about their experiences and tips for upcoming artists which was tons of fun.
In the booth people could try our new Wacom Mobile Studio Pro, Intuos and Cintiq 16’sΒ Β having a blast. Here are some photos for you to enjoy!
The signing areas, photo-op lines and panels were the crowning attraction for fans, bringing huge names such as Simon Pegg, Sophia Lillis, Wyatt Oleff, Jaeden Martell and Jason Momoa to the forefront. However, Comic Con also cemented the position of a new cultural icon, the voiceover artist.
Iconic game and animation voice talents including Nolan North, Troy Baker, Tara Strong, Roger Clark, Bryan Dechart and Charles Martinet generated huge queues of fans looking to speak with the people behind todayβs most-loved digital characters.
From the experience of cosplay and buying a line of licensed accessories (from movie weapons to Stormtrooper armor) on the show floor to taking a photo in Rick Sanchezβs garage or in βThe Shiningβsβ iconic corridor, the fan experience at Comic Con was what drove crowds crazy.
Getting tattoos at the βBirds of Preyβ stand, plunging a sword into the Witcherβs worst enemies and hanging out with Predators at the PlayStation stand, the Instagram movement has only intensified the fan-driven opportunities to be a part of the worlds fans love so well.
Comics are at the source of some of the most popular movies, games and TV shows of all time, but with the comic book world taking a slight back step at the show, fandom is reflecting that.
