The updated Wacom One line of pen displays and tablets launched in 2023, along with a slew of customization options and accessories. We love Joli Noelle David’s infectious personality and openness to sharing her experience as a design student at UC Davis on her YouTube channel. So we sent her one of the new Wacom Ones — the medium pen tablet version — to get her thoughts and impressions.
In the last post and video, she showed how to create custom Instagram highlight icons using the pen tablet. In the below video, she walks through her process for redesigning a logo for The Ordinary using the Wacom One and Adobe Illustrator software. Watch the video below, or read on for an outline.

How to redesign a logo in Adobe Illustrator using the Wacom One drawing tablet
In today’s video, I show viewers how to redesign the logo of the popular skincare brand, The Ordinary. Redesigning logos is a great way to practice your design skills and help when you’re having a creative block! I like redesigning logos from my favorite brands. Posting your work on social media can help you gain exposure and even get design gigs.
Steps:
1. Sketch your ideas using a pen and paper
- Tip: Use the notes app (on iPhone) to scan your image
- Tip: One way to redesign a logo is to keep the brand identity the same (same color palette, same overall vibe). Redesign can also mean changing the logo slightly using your own style and flare
2. Choose your favorite logo to work with
3. Open a new file on Adobe Illustrator (I used an A4 sized canvas)
4. Drag and drop the original logo and your sketch
5. Lower opacity of sketch (I did ~35%)
6. Using the paintbrush or pencil tool, outline your sketch
7. Make necessary adjustments using the direct selection tool
8. Hide sketch layer
9. Export and you’re done!
