How The Retouchist uses the new Intuos Pro for professional photo editing

March 11, 2025

Sef McCullough has been a high-end commercial photo retoucher in the advertising industry for years. He also sells tutorials and tools for aspiring photo editors, based on his years of professional experience. We thought he would be a perfect person to try out the new Wacom Intuos Pro. Here’s what he thought.

I’m Sef McCullough, and I’m a high-end retoucher and digital artist. Workflow is doing the work with as little friction as possible. The Intuos Pro is an essential part of reducing that friction in my digital work.

It’s just sleek. The evolution of Wacom’s product line has always been efficient and rational and relevant. It’s the perfect size. This is like the infinity pool — it goes right to the edge; I love that. And just like, the integration of buttons and dials, everything just feels like it’s meant for work.

The buttons, and especially the dial for changing the brush size in particular, have little ticks you can feel. This travels really well. Anytime I can add something to my kit that’s wireless and reliable and sleek like this, I’m stoked. The pen is cool too. It feels like it could go on the space shuttle, honestly. It’s solid.

It’s almost like an interface that’s not there. It just allows you to connect more with what is happening visually on the screen in a tactile way. The Intuos Pro helps me connect work to flow. It’s easy to get into the flow with Intuos Pro.
