Wacom has a profound effect in empowering creativity everywhere. We have been involved with Sisler High’s CREATE program in Winnipeg, Canada for a number of years, but this year’s project was something different.
As part of our partnership with Sisler, Dave Bolton, Wacom’s Director of Canada Sales, was joined by tremendous artist and Wacom advocate Jason Scheier (currently at Paramount) to act as mentors for this year’s project. The students are led in part by Jamie LeDuc, an animation teacher and the department head of the CREATE program.
Starting in early September 2022, the student group chose to address teen mental health and spent the year creating a series of web comics around the impact of isolation. With Jason’s mentorship, the program worked in a true production environment, learning how to prepare and present a monthly executive review, as well as working towards milestone events in the production cycle.
See the impact that our products have in the lives of students as they move towards their goal of becoming professional artists. The CREATE program is one of the most unique Career and Technical Education programs in Canada, and the work that Jamie has done to establish this program has proven to be a model for schools across Canada to follow.
